Hi all.
The subject says it all. Does anyone know of a website that we can download free sapi5 voices apart from the 3 voices sam, mary and i don't remember the other which come with windows?
Thanks.

I don't think there are any. If you're wanting anything that sounds any better than the original speech engines themselves, you have to pay for them, and they're pretty pricey.
At&t natural voices will work with sappi 5, but you have to be willing to shell out a lot of money for them depending on how many of their voices you want, and I think they're about $30 a piece.

Of the top of my head, the only ones that you can get are the ones that have been mensioned and the free trial of the realspeak ones on thunders site.
Actually thats a lie, you can get the linux type voice called flight or flite i can't remember, but it really doesn't sound that good in comparisan to other voices, i just have it on my windows computer so i can move to linux and still understand the speech.
BEN.

You can get a synthesizer called e speak, but I don't like it. It's so robotic.

lol. It is long time since i created this topick.
Thanks download 87 for bringing it up.
I also tried espeak and it might be not as natural as other voices we can find but i think for a free product it has got a lot of good points.
First of all it is very responsive and very small in size less than a megabite. Also it is amasing that it can speak a lot of languages. Some of them are better than the others but by giving feedback to the developer about a language somebody can improove a language. I already gave feedback about the Greek language and we saw some improovements.
Anyway for people who might want to try it the address is http://espeak.sourceforge.net/
Enjoy.

I myself like the microsoft voices because they're more natural and interesting to listen to.

I can make my own espeak voices, I made imatations of arthur and barney from pbs. I also did the deathro wilson voice, and it sounds like the rino from spiterman2.

Hey, I'd love to learn how to make e speak sound like arthur and barney. That would be cool.

ESpeak is responsive, small, intelligible, and open-sources; what more do you need? Of course it's robotic, after all, it's a bot. Hahaha. It sounds like someone who's had a laringectomy and is using one of those buzzers to talk.

Well, I've used the microsoft speech synthesis engine, which is sapi 4, with jaws. I like those voices because I can make jaws sound like an echo, and other programs, sound like a space alien. I love this synthesizer.
